Whipped Dog Frequently Asked Questions
Silvertip- A very soft and lathering hogging knot that lacks backbone
High Mountain Badger- Softness akin to Silvertip, with more body and a tad more scritch
Synthetic- Even softer than the silvertip yet with more backbone, also dries extremely fast (ideal for traveling)
Black Pure Badger- More scritchy than the silvertip, but with more body
Boar- Stiff and great for face "scrubbing"
All knots have some loose hair that didn't bond with the glue knot in which they are sunk. It is common and acceptable for brushes to lose approximately 10 hairs over the first 10 shaves. After 10 shaves, losing an occasional 1 or 2 hairs is common and fine. Every once in awhile a brush/knot is a true shedder, but many times the brush/knot will shed due to improper handling. Please keep the following in mind:
• NEVER immerse the brush handle in water. This will loosen the bond between the hair and the glue plug.
• NEVER use hot water. This damages the hairs, just as hot water will damage human hair. This will also make the hair more scratchy. I have gotten many brushes to stop shedding simply by using them in cooler water for a few cycles.
• NEVER press down when lathering. This can cause hairs to tangle or break.
• Always rinse the brush in cold water and try to get all the soap out. This helps lock in moisture and prevent breakage.
• Every few uses, wash the brush with conditioner. This will help keep the brush hair pliable and make it less likely to break.
*Kindly note, there will be no refunds, returns, or exchanges on brushes or knots after six months.
